By now you’ve almost certainly heard the meme that content is king. In the web business especially, there’s a great deal of truth in it. Although many types of content may comprise a website, it’s your written content that’s the reason people visit and stay on your site.
We believe in content first here at Sky Dog Technologies. If you’re not familiar with the term, it generally refers to a design approach. And we’re 100% on board with that design approach, but we also believe that your website’s most critical aspect is its written content. That’s because no matter what you want people to do when they come to your site, they will do it—or not—based on something they read there.
Give the people what they want
When we begin a project, the first thing we do is collect all of your content, including logos, images, videos, and — most importantly — your written content.
Content drives the Internet, and consumers of every stripe are looking for information that solves a problem of some kind.
We want to be sure this content is what your site visitors need to achieve their goals on your website. But how can we know their goals? This is where your site’s analytics data comes in. If you have a website, you should have at least one type of analytics software installed. In a best-case scenario, that would be Google Analytics (since it’s incredibly full-featured and free). We examine and interpret the data and evaluate your business goals and content within the context of your site visitors’ goals.
All of this gives us a roadmap for arranging and organizing your website and perhaps even creating new content for it. At the end of this exercise, we put your content into a prototype.
Have roadmap, will travel
A prototype is a black and white, interactive version of your website’s content constructed to validate its completeness and structure as it will work in the browser. No design elements are applied at this stage since the prototype allows all parties to make final decisions on the site’s messaging, flow, and functionality.
Once the prototype is complete, we’re ready to start thinking about design.
Ready to take the next step?
Our process begins with making sure that your content is what site visitors need to achieve their goals on your website.
